The Comcast DVR with TiVo Almost Here - Finally! | TV Snob - TVSnob.com
« Sharp Introduces 108-inch LCD TV at CES | Main | Deal of the Day: Sony DVPCX995V 400-Disc DVD Mega Changer/Player » January 11, 2007 The Comcast DVR with TiVo Almost Here - Finally! It's been a couple of years since TiVo and Comcast announced their joint TiVo DVR for Comcast. It now looks like the TiVo DVR is almost here: TiVo Inc. said on Monday it hopes to start testing its first integrated digital video recorder service with Comcast Corp. , the leading U. S. cable operator, this spring, two years after they reached an agreement to develop the servic Comcast actually showed off the technology at this weeks CES: The two companies demonstrated the service for the first time at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas on Monday. They said the new service will allow subscribers to use TiVo's features with Comcast's video-on-demand and high-definition service. Klugman said TiVo's search features will make it easier for consumers to find all types of programming, including Comcast's 8,000 hours of video-on-demand service, in a more compelling way than hunting through menu pages. Almost makes me wish I was a Comcast customer. Well, maybe this will spawn some more TiVo / Cable Company agreements.

DISH Network ViP622 DVR HD Review: Powered by ConsumerGuide and HowStuffWorks
Home > Electronics > Satellite TV Expert Review DISH Network ViP622 DVR HD Enlarge Image Expert Rating: 4 (what's this?) Expert Review DISH Network ViP622 DVR HD Compare Prices Date Published: 12/19/07 If you always seem to run out of DVR storage space, DISH Network may have solved your problem with its ViP622 satellite receiver. This unit allows you to connect an external hard drive through USB, which increases the amount of storage available through the DVR and is a great feature. An external hard drive, however, is more of an archival storage option; you cannot actually play this content without copying it back to the internal hard drive. The ViP622's internal hard drive allows you to store up to 200 hours of standard-definition (SD) programming or up to 30 hours of high-definition (HD) programming. The DVR also allows you to pause live TV for up to an hour for each tuner. The ViP622's satellite options are impressive. Using dual mode with the DISH ViP622 receiver, you can operate two TVs from one receiver, and both TVs can show different programs. One of these TVs can run at a full HD signal, while the other must display an SD signal. The ViP622's two universal remote controls make the dual mode possible: One remote uses infrared technology that requires line of sight, while the second remote uses UHF Pro technology, which allows for use from a different room.
