Comcast charges me $19.99 because my Digital Cable box broke About a month ago my digital cable service became very unreliable, with sudden downstream drops to 0db, despites having perfect upstream as well as an excellent cable modem connection. After a service call was initiated, a tech dropped by and found that the box was dying (some old POS motorolla box that was probably 10+ years old). Additionally, he found that the cable technician who had come out before did a crappy job wiring my place and had to replace all of the comcast-made cable connections. The signal strength jumped dramatically as did my digital cable reliability (now I have zero problems). The tech was an awesome guy and made sure everything was working well. Fast forward to today-I check my bill and get a charge for $19.99, as demonstrated below: I call Comcast, and they claim that I have to pay it since I got a new box, but they would be willing to wave the fee if I chose to get a "product replacement plan". What the hell? Am I not spending enough money, not to mention renting the damn thing from them? I would have normally just brought this unit into a local station and exchanged it, but the people whom I setup the appointment with insisted I wait for a tech to check it out. So now I'm stuck with a $19.99 extra charge simply because THEIR equipment that I'm RENTING was faulty!
